Productivity Commission Defends GST Report Amid Criticisms from WA Premier

Cook had previously criticized opponents as east coast clowns who did not understand Western Australia, warning that any alterations to the agreement would rip $6bn out of the Western Australia economy. Jackson stated that attacking the commission's integrity was a bridge too far and noted it reflects a broader international trend in public debate. She emphasized that the commission is above politics, holding an important position within Australia's public policy landscape, and stated its processes will not be influenced by comments from the prime minister. Separately, the transport regulator is investigating two additional incidents at Sydney airport, raising the monthly tally to six.
